My Engineering Life!

Almost 2 and a half years back due to some rotten luck it was decided that I would join Gitam college to study computer science and engineering. I was always a confused soul, wanted to move to the commerce field after 10th itself but dad said, "You can always move from science to management but never from management to science", so then I thought I'll take PCB when my granddad said, "How can you not take math, math is very important in life!" And so it happened that I took PCBM, as family again said, "When you studied 11 subjects till 10th standard, there is nothing difficult about studying just 5 now!" Then I chose to do law after 12th, but so was it written that I wouldn't be able to do what i chose!
So I landed in Gitam, most unfit candidate ever! People thought I landed from Mars or something. I skipped the usual chaitanya grinding, was what they call a complete Timpany product! With an ISC background, PCBM and after law entrances people thought I just wasn't cut out for this! I hated the place, the people, the attitude! The more I 'd try understanding the concept, the more people convinced me not to. By crook or nook people just looked at getting those marks, and can someone stay uninfluenced for long? So went 1-1, running around getting accustomed to college and its environment, finding a foothold. And when I thought I did settle down, college didn't seem that bad, the people were also reasonable (they just lacked exposure!) or I just started to think like them!
Sometime in 1-2 Vidyasagar Uncle had come to college to start a rotaract club, of course I had to be a part of it(after that embarrassing incident!) And ever since I've been synonymous with Rotary! I took it as a welcome gesture too, some extra activity that could make college better. It was fun, more than anything it brought me recognition! :) There would be times when people would contact me for old age homes ka numbers or details of orphanages! Apart from the service part, we also had the fun part of meeting people, get togethers and bonding with like minded people! Such a relief, nothing like finding another person who shares the same level of understanding! So it went 1-2 and 2-1!
2-2 was when we had the fest-alacrity08 (I know the name sucks!) , the first time I interacted with my super seniors. Well it went well, though not too many things happened the way we wanted them to. I attended another fest in 2-2; Felicity08 at IIIT, was loadsa fun! I will describe it in another blog. Around this time I got associated with YGOI through Praveen and Winny, another group of like minded people it is! Not to forget the college magazine, I hit upon the brilliant idea of starting a college magazine :) and pulled along a couple of more like minded people to support me! Well, its still going through its ups n downs though! Just glad it hasn't been packed up as yet, guess I will go on fighting for its cause till I'm done with engineering.
With all these activities and my veena classes, I never really got to take java,C, C++ classes which all your classmates take! My studies kinda took the back burner. Grades started to slip, I reached a saturation point! :) I've had enough I thought, been trying to slowly recede from certain activities to make time for myself. 3-1 I thought I should improve my grades, lets see how it goes. And then join CAT coaching in December, say exactly 11 months of training for one exam! I was never made for the technical side, never understood how people became expert programmers/coders! That was my engineering life so far, just the outline minus the emotions!
I will voice my opinion on each of them individually in the posts yet to come!
