O-bam-a, O-bama!

Maybe because I didn't take a keen interest in American politics before or since it was such an iconic event, the election of the 44th president of the United States of America didn't fail to influence me. After 50 years, 5 decades of the Civil Rights a black man has been elected to govern America. Who thought a little colored guy would dream of becoming the President of a country he adopted as his homeland? Barack Obama dreamt big and the dreams did come true in a big way!
All this amazes me and gets me thinking of something I've always yearned for - Power. The word itself has its effect on me, it gives me goosebumps! Power of one man, power to bring a change, power to be the change, power to stand up and speak on things you feel strongly about, power to bring justice, power to be yourself, power to speak for somebody, power to be heard! Power is such a capricious thing, you don't know when it chooses to stay and when to desert you. But power is a passion that drives you to be and do the best. Power decides to reside in somebody, while not reside in some. As to why it does it ? Nobody knows! What is it that makes men/women of power different? The gift of the gab? Confidence? Personality? Morals? Emotions? Whatever it is, it makes ambitious men and women! Will, determination and an undeterred spirit is what will keep man going in the hunt for power.
All in all, I wish Barack Obama all the best in his endeavours, hope he gives America a new face and a fresh hope to survive on! I'm not too much of a fan of the US or the Americans, but this election has sure got us thinking, its acted as a pre cursor for the up coming elections in India and hope it has a positive effect!
